Our Approach

Scratch-Made Meals & Nutrition

Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks are made in-house, connecting nourishment with learning about food.

Nourishment is part of the school day

Journey's meal program provides breakfast, lunch, and two snacks each day. Meals are prepared in-house from scratch with locally sourced, approximately 90% organic ingredients. Meals and snacks are included in tuition, along with learning supplies and curriculum, so nourishment is part of the everyday experience.

Food is also an opportunity to slow down and connect. Shared meals can invite conversation, curiosity, and growing independence. A child may be discovering a new flavor or learning to describe what they enjoy. The goal is to support a positive relationship with food, not to make every child's preferences identical.

From the garden to the table

Our chef partners with teachers to compost, recycle, and grow ingredients in the school gardens. These connections help children see food as something with a story: it grows, changes, is prepared, and becomes part of a meal. Nourishment and care for the environment can be explored together.

Garden experiences also give children concrete things to wonder about. What does a plant need? Where do scraps go? How does an ingredient change when it is prepared? These are examples of questions families can explore with children, without expecting every meal to become a lesson or every child to enjoy every food.

Bring your family's questions to the table

Before enrollment, talk with Journey about allergies, dietary needs, and the current menu. This page describes the overall program; it is not an individualized nutrition plan or a promise about how a particular dietary requirement will be handled. The school can explain its current arrangements and what information it needs from your family.

Current families should request the latest weekly menu through the school. The family hub is presently a labeled demo, so its menu card is not a live menu. For broader guidance about healthy eating in early childhood, the external resources below offer evidence-based information you can discuss with your child's health professional.

We'd love to meet your family
